The Life and Ancestry of Elsie Fish Nay (1928-2013)
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Elsie Fish Nay, 84, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Friday, April 26, 2013.
She was born on June 1, 1928 in St. George, Utah, a daughter of Jesse Lewis and Lucile Cottam Fish. Elsie grew up in St. George, Utah; Pioche, Nevada; and Anderson Junction, Utah. She then attended Branch Agricultural College (now Southern Utah University) for two years where she met her husband. Elsie married Sherman Levi Nay on May 17, 1948 in Washington, Utah. Their 65-year marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 21, 1949. She valiantly served in many church callings. Her favorite callings were working in the Primary, music and serving in the temple. She was known for her love, cheerful service, patience and Christ-like attitude. Elsie was a prolific journal keeper, recording her entire life on a daily basis. Surviving are her husband, Sherman; seven children, Blaine (Annette) Nay; Alvin (Roxanne) Nay; Sharlene (Edwin) Washington; Lucile Turner; Bertha (LG) Cummins; Julie (Richard) Chatterton; Howard Nay; 38 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and all seven siblings. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City Utah LDS 16th Ward Chapel, 145 West 500 South. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. -- Obituary, 29 Apr 2013, The Spectrum, St. George, UT
